The Five Most Expensive Corvettes of All-Time

The Chevy Corvette always demands attention with each new model. The latest Corvette, the much-anticipated 2018 model, is no different. But older Corvettes are where the money’s at. Given the car’s enormous popularity, it’s no surprise that Vettes are sought-after collector automobiles, with sky-high selling prices. What are the most expensive Corvettes of all time? Let’s take a look.

most expensive corvettes

  • 1968 Chevrolet Corvette L88

This super speedster boasts more than 500 HP, but it’s another number – only 80 were manufactured – is why this car sold for $880,000. Check the glovebox: this ’68 sold with the original owner’s manual and bill of sale!

  • 1969 Chevy Corvette Rebel L88 Convertible

The one and only “Rebel” Corvette was one of the winningest road racers of all time. Probably the most accomplished of the ultra-expensive Corvettes, this car retired from racing and sold for less than $8,000 in 1972! Compare that to its auction price in 2013, when it sold for $2.86 million! Special feature: the car has distinctive Confederate flag accents to earn its “Rebel” nickname.

  • 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88

This Vette comes from the legendary ’67 L88 line, by far the most favorite model among collectors. Despite being completely demolished (only the side panels are original), this Vette crosses the finish line in 3rd place in the race for most expensive Vette ever, at $3.2 million. Did you know? The car’s restoration was approved by the National Corvette Restorers Society, the world’s foremost authority on the subject.

  • 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Convertible

Combine a rare manufacturing run, vintage quality, 500 HP and convertible styling, and you end up with the 2nd-most expensive Corvette ever sold. The ’67 convertible L88 is rare. And finding an L88 with racing pedigree is nearly impossible. This Vette sold for $3.4 million in 2013. Fun fact: the car has been garage-kept for more than 40 years since its last race in the early 70s.

  • 1967 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe

As you can tell from our last two entries, collectors love the ’67 Corvette L88. This L88 Coupe sold for $3.85 million in 2014, and is the most expensive Corvette ever purchased. A limited production run – only 20 were made – was the primary factor behind the staggering price tag. Powerful punch: for a ’67, it certainly has impressive power (560 HP).

Even if you don’t own one of the most expensive Corvettes of all-time, you still treat your Corvette like a million bucks. Give your car premium parts and quality accessories with the selection at RPI Designs. We’re your Vette parts headquarters, including older and new models!
