RPI Designs

Corvette Painted Parts – Making the decision

Many of our customers have long asked us what kind of paint we use for our Corvette Painted Parts. The answer is simply, RPI Designs uses and will always use DuPont paint and clear coat. DuPont paint and clear coat is the top of the line paint in the automotive business. One of our Corvette Painted Parts competitors, or so we thought, was found out to use a cheap and generic paint alternative. Below is a photo of their paint mixing station posted on their Instagram page. You’ll see this is a very generic brand, “Matrix”, which is made by Valspar, better known for paint on the walls of your kitchen or your basement walls – certainly not for Corvette parts!

Generic Paint Matrix

RPI Designs decided long ago we would never sacrifice quality of our painted parts to save a dime at our customer’s expense. Sure we could purchase Matrix paint or DeBeers, which is roughly 50% the cost DuPont and quickly throw paint on your Corvette parts. Getting them out the door and collecting your money. But that’s not what RPI Designs is about and certainly not what we will ever stand for.

RPI Designs Paint Booths “The Real Deal”

Your Corvette is painted with the highest quality automotive DuPont and PPG paint available. You spent upwards of $100,000 on your Corvette; we understand that your car is one of the best quality built in the world and you require the best quality products and best quality paint for your pride and joy…that is why we will not be fooled by a company trying to sell us their paint for 50% discount. Believe us, we’ve had these companies come in and try to get us to switch from DuPont. Let me be clear, we won’t.

RPI Designs Paint Booths “The Real Deal”

RPI Designs supplies many of the Corvette, Camaro, Challenger and Mustang aftermarket parts companies with pre-painted parts. Before you ever buy a Corvette painted part, or any painted part, be sure to ask two questions:

  1. Did RPI Designs paint that part?
  2. If RPI did not paint the part, did the company use DuPont or PPG?

If the answer is “no” to both of these….well, then you are not getting a superior DuPont quality part painted by RPI Designs. You are not getting the same paint GM used on your Corvette from the factory and you certainly are not getting top of the line finishes.

It has long been said, “you get what you pay for”. We firmly believe this and stand by this rule. Oh, we are also very competitive on price, even with the companies using a generic brand.
